 Residential Care Specialist - FT & PRN: St. Peter’s Lane Campus - Matthews, NC

Thompson Child & Family Focus, located in the Charlotte/Matthews area, has openings for the Residential Care Specialist position in 2 different residential treatment programs.

PRTF (Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility): This position provides 24 hour direct care to children ages 6 - 13 in the residential treatment program by providing a safe therapeutic home setting in a positive, consistent and structured environment. This includes mental health support and documentation based on service goals and plans for each client. This position plans, provides and supervises the daily activities of the clients to build self-esteem and appropriate peer interaction for each child. This position is responsible for building a safe and positive relationship with each child using basic principles of reality therapy without punitive approaches while providing engaging, nurturing structure. This individual must have the ability to appropriately intervene to meet the needs of the child and their family members gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems as they take place.

Thompson Connect: Individuals in this program work with adolescent clients ages 12 - 17 in a short-term residential treatment program. This position will provide guidance, support and mentoring to adolescent clients including assisting with transitional living skills and daily functioning.  This person must have the ability to appropriately intervene to meet the needs of the adolescents and their collaterals to gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems as they take place. This position is responsible for teaching and modeling independent living skills as it relates to the adolescent population and for teaching and modeling healthy and safe relationships.

Physical Requirements: Will frequently perform a wide variety of physical tasks such as standing, walking, running, stooping, bending, climbing stairs and lifting of individuals, which requires strength, coordination, endurance, and agility.  Persons with any medical problems such as joint problems, obesity, arthritis or cardiopulmonary conditions, where it would be unwise or not possible to engage in moderate physical exertion should not be considered.

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field preferred. Youth Partner:  St. Peter’s Lane Campus - Matthews, NC

Thompson, located in the Charlotte/Matthews area, has an opening for a position in a new short-term residential and community based program working with adolescent ages 12-17.  The Youth Partner (YP) must have experience in engaging and communicating with youth on a level that provides support to the recovery process and to achieve positive outcomes. The YP will educate youth, families, providers, and the community about the Wraparound process and services; role model effective behavior for the youth to show a pattern of having healthy relationships with others; help the youth learn self-advocacy skills to articulate talents and strengths; show positive and healthy responses to stress and conflict, and demonstrate positive social skills indicative of a role model.  The Youth Partner must be committed to forming relationships with the youth or young adults they work with and capable of being patient, culturally aware, and respectful. YP must be willing to complete NC Your Move Leadership Series and the National Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Support curriculum as well as Vroon VDB Coaching and Training credentialing in the first year of employment.  Qualifications include: Life experience as a beneficiary of mental health or substance abuse services: AND a Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field; OR Associate’s Degree in a Human Services field from an accredited school AND one year of experience working with children/adolescents/transition age youth; OR a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of four years of experience working with children/adolescents/transition age youth.  Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of families.

Intensive In-Home Therapist:  Wendover Rd Campus - Charlotte, NC

Thompson is looking for a Licensed or Provisionally Licensed professional to help change the lives of youth and families in our community as an Intensive In-Home (IIH) Team Lead. The IIH Team Lead works as the leader of a 4-person team to provide direct and indirect intensive in-home services. Position requires 24/7 coverage, on a rotating basis. The IIH Lead will be responsible for: documentation, supporting other team members, supervision of team member’s interventions, intervening in crisis situations; providing self-help, living skills and parenting skills training to help the family; as well as provide assistance with the implementation of home-based behavioral supports. In-Home Therapist:  Wendover Rd Campus - Charlotte, NC

Thompson is seeking a dynamic, talented and passionate clinician who wants to make a significant impact on the lives of youth & families. This therapist will provide high quality individual & family therapy in the home & community environment in which their clients live. The appropriate candidate is a NC licensed therapist with two years post graduate experience providing mental health services in a community based  outpatient setting. Therapists will have a small in-home caseload of no more than twelve consumers who need more support than traditional outpatient services.  The therapist will be paired up with a case manager who will provide ongoing care coordination, person centered planning and case management services. This position will work nights and weekends. Qualified candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling and full licensure as an Independent Practitioner in the State of North Carolina. Community & Corporate Engagement Manager:  St. Peter’s Lane Campus - Matthews, NC

Thompson Child & Family Focus, a non-profit located in the Charlotte-Matthews area, is seeking an individual to be responsible for engaging the community to further the mission of Thompson by maintaining a quality agency volunteer program, identifying new corporate partners, raising corporate sponsorship dollars and providing logistical support for agency events.  Job responsibilities include:

Community and Corporate Relations

  • Inform and educate individuals, churches, corporations and civic groups about Thompson through ongoing speaking engagements, tours, meetings and presentations.
  • Identify, research, cultivate and secure partnerships and sponsorship dollars with corporations whose philanthropic mission aligns with the needs and opportunities that Thompson can provide.
  • Serve as an agency representative in various community civic groups.
  • Conduct and/or oversee scheduling of tours with individuals and groups with regularity.

Volunteer & In-Kind Donation Coordination

  • Recruit, screen, coordinate, and cultivate individual and group volunteers including: acting as the main point of contact for all volunteer related activities, providing appropriate training and placement after screening/background check completion, and working with program leaders to ensure opportunities add value.
  • Track volunteer hours, data entry, and quarterly reports; updating volunteer handbook; create volunteer policies and procedures as needed; and manage annual volunteer evaluations for agency accreditors.
  • Field and manage in-kind donations.

Event Coordination

  • Manage logistics for events including but not limited to: annual fundraising luncheon, Thanksgiving Feasts, Holiday Chapel, CTC Society related events.
  • Solicit and secure corporate sponsors and table captains for annual fundraising luncheon.
  • Coordinate annual volunteer appreciation activities/events.

This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years non-profit development experience including direct gift solicitation and donor stewardship. Community relations and/or volunteer management experience helpful. Available for evening and weekend hours as needed. This person must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to speak clearly, persuasively, and effectively in front of groups of all types and size on behalf of Thompson. This position also requires strong organizational and analytical skills and an above average computer knowledge.

Nurse Manager:  St. Peter's Ln. Matthews, NC

Thompson Child and Family Focus has an opening for a Nurse Manager at our Matthews campus. With help from the nursing staff and psychiatrist, this person will oversee the medical needs of up to 24 clients ages 6 – 13 in our psychiatric residential treatment facility.  This person will be responsible for supervising 4 full-time nurses as well as a staff of 3 PRNs.  Duties will include scheduling the nursing staff to cover 12 hour shifts for 24 hour, around the clock care; being on-call as needed for scheduling issues and policy/procedure questions that may arise; keeping staff in compliance with PRTF regulations and training; monitoring and ordering nursing and medical supplies as needed; interviewing potential new hires when there are open positions and training all new nursing staff. This person will oversee medication administration by nursing and other PRTF staff, ensuring TCFF policies and procedures are observed. This person will be responsible for annually reviewing policies and procedures related to nursing (or as needed). A BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing with a current licensure to practice as an RN in North Carolina is required with supervisory experience preferred. Experience in pediatrics or psychiatry preferred.

 Senior General Ledger Accountant:  St. Peter’s Lane Campus - Matthews, NC

The GL Accountant is responsible for assigned general ledger accounts on a monthly basis, reconciling all balance sheet accounts and cash receipts recording.  Must be able to work independently and must be detail oriented and have a positive disposition.  Duties will include assisting with accounts payable and account receivable functions - performing accounting functions necessary to document, process, post, and verify financial data for use in maintaining accounting and statistical records. Candidate must have knowledge of GAAP, reconciliations, general ledger and the accounting cycle.  Must be able to effectively manage accounting workload in order to meet all accounting and state-mandated filing deadlines.  Required education and skills: Four-year degree in Accounting from an accredited University and a minimum of 5 years applicable field experience.
