Residential Care Specialist - FT & PRN: St. Peter’s Lane Campus - Matthews, NC

Thompson Child & Family Focus, located in the Charlotte/Matthews area, has openings for the Residential Care Specialist position in 2 different residential treatment programs.

PRTF (Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility): This position provides 24 hour direct care to children ages 6 - 13 in the residential treatment program by providing a safe therapeutic home setting in a positive, consistent and structured environment. This includes mental health support and documentation based on service goals and plans for each client. This position plans, provides and supervises the daily activities of the clients to build self-esteem and appropriate peer interaction for each child. This position is responsible for building a safe and positive relationship with each child using basic principles of reality therapy without punitive approaches while providing engaging, nurturing structure. This individual must have the ability to appropriately intervene to meet the needs of the child and their family members gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems as they take place.

Thompson Connect: Individuals in this program work with adolescent clients ages 12 - 17 in a short-term residential treatment program. This position will provide guidance, support and mentoring to adolescent clients including assisting with transitional living skills and daily functioning.  This person must have the ability to appropriately intervene to meet the needs of the adolescents and their collaterals to gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems as they take place. This position is responsible for teaching and modeling independent living skills as it relates to the adolescent population and for teaching and modeling healthy and safe relationships.

Physical Requirements: Will frequently perform a wide variety of physical tasks such as standing, walking, running, stooping, bending, climbing stairs and lifting of individuals, which requires strength, coordination, endurance, and agility.  Persons with any medical problems such as joint problems, obesity, arthritis or cardiopulmonary conditions, where it would be unwise or not possible to engage in moderate physical exertion should not be considered.

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field preferred. Accounts Receivable Supervisor: St. Peter’s Lane Campus - Matthews, NC

The Accounts Receivable Supervisor oversees the daily operation of the Accounts Receivable department to ensure accuracy and timeliness of all areas of responsibility. This person must understand medical/clinical billing and supervising a billing department. This position will coordinate revisions to procedure codes to obtain correct reimbursements and identify and resolve discrepancies as needed. This position is also responsible for keeping the department current on any insurance carrier changes relating to filing procedures. This person will need to be able to identify and correct improper disallowances and discounts by insurance carriers. Additionally, this person will oversee all aspects of the coding functions, to include monitoring and interpreting insurance reimbursements and implementing procedures that ensure optimum reimbursement and compliance with regulations. The AR Supervisor will also monitor aged balances of all accounts and follow up as needed on delinquent accounts. This position will have a good understanding of HIPAA and maintain confidentiality of all information related to patients, medical staff, finances and cost effective healthcare delivery issues. Duties will include closing the EMR sub-ledger at month-end and management of contracts and credentialing. A four year degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting or OJT, is required. Qualified candidates will have 5 - 7 years of supervision experience. Candidates must have medical/clinical billing experience. Kaleidacare experience is a plus.

Residential Therapist:  St. Peter’s Lane Campus - Matthews, NC

Thompson, located in the Charlotte/Matthews area, has an opening for a Licensed Therapist to provide overall implementation of the clinical components of the program in a residential setting for children ages 6 - 13. Responsibilities include individual, family, and group counseling, working with direct care staff and outside resources for treatment planning, child and family team meetings, judicial reviews, and more as needed. Very comfortable with trauma-informed care so as to use it effectively with clients, as well as intervene and coach direct care staff and the families of clients. Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related fields. Fully licensed preferred, provisionally licensed required. Thompson Connect Facilitator:  St. Peter’s Lane Campus - Matthews, NC

Thompson, located in the Charlotte/Matthews area, has an opening for a position in a new short-term residential and community based program working with adolescent males ages 12-17.  The Thompson Connect Facilitator will provide leadership in engaging high-need youth and their teams in developing, implementing and monitoring an intensive individualized care plan using the phases of the High Fidelity Wraparound Process.  This includes helping the team develop a natural support system, working on the development of an integrated plan, and establishing a strong relationship with the community. Works in collaboration with the Program Supervisor and Youth Partner to strengthen team rapport and overcome challenges.  The Facilitator will facilitate Child and Family Team meetings. 

Qualifications include: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services related field, Master’s Degree preferred, at least two years of experience providing services to children and families, knowledge of community resources, experience with different systems (school, mental health, or juvenile justice), experience facilitating small groups preferably with multiple system involvement, and willingness to complete the HFW Coaching and Training credentialing.  Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of families.

Thompson Connect Youth Partner: St. Peter’s Lane Campus - Matthews, NC

Thompson, located in the Charlotte/Matthews area, has an opening for a position in a new short-term residential and community based program working with adolescent males ages 12-17.  The Youth Partner (YP) must have experience in engaging and communicating with youth on a level that provides support to the recovery process and to achieve positive outcomes. The YP will educate youth, families, providers, and the community about the Wraparound process and services; role model effective behavior for the youth to show a pattern of having healthy relationships with others; help the youth learn self-advocacy skills to articulate talents and strengths; show positive and healthy responses to stress and conflict, and demonstrate positive social skills indicative of a role model.  The Youth Partner must be committed to forming relationships with the youth or young adults they work with and capable of being patient, culturally aware, and respectful. YP must be willing to complete NC Your Move Leadership Series and the National Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Support curriculum as well as Vroon VDB Coaching and Training credentialing in the first year of employment.
